This past weekend we attended the funeral of Michael’s Grandmother, Mrs. JoAnn Hill. She passed at the age of 74 after spending a month in and out of the hospital. She was a lovely southern lady who was deeply devoted to her husband, family, and church. She will be greatly missed by many people. The visitation and funeral were nice and even given the circumstances, it was nice to see and spend time with the Hill side of our family. Lot’s of love to share.

Mrs.JoAnn Hill, age 74, of 20 Timberlane Terrace, Rome, died Friday evening in a Rome hospital following a one month illness.
She was born in Knoxville,TN. Feb.25,1937, a daughter of the late Burl Stalsworth and Josie Nichols Stalsworth and was a graduate of Fulton High School. On June 11, 1956, she married Charles Ross Hill,Jr. and for the 24 years he was on active duty with the US Marine Corp, she traveled with him throughout the United States. In 1981, Mr.Hill was ordained into the Gospel Ministry in the Church of the Nazarene and they served in Hueytown and Jasper,AL. In 1983, they came to Rome, where Rev.Hill became pastor of the Rome First Church of the Nazarene serving 15 years before retirement. Rev.and Mrs.Hill remained faithful members of the church and Mrs.Hill retired from the Rome Boys Club where she served as Art Director. She was preceded in death by a son, David Ross Hill in 1963 and a sister, Mary Lou Sproles.
Surviving is the husband, Rev.Charles Hill, Rome; two daughters, Mrs.Tina (Scott) Tadsen, Clarksville,TN and Mrs. Jennifer(Todd) Gilleland, Rome; two sons, Darrell(Beverly) Hill, Birmingham,AL and Michael Hill, Birmingham; daughter-in-law, Marta Hill, Birmingham; sisters, Bernice Hancock and Ruby Merriman, both of Knoxville; grandchildren, Michael(Morgan) Gaither, Bryan Gaither, Ashley Tadsen, Andrew Tadsen, Taylor Gilleland, Braden Gillelland, Michael Hill, David Hill and Haley Hawkins. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings,Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Rev.Gary Huff, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating and also singing “ I’ll Meet You in the Morning” and “If That Isn’t Love”. Interment will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Good Shepherd Chapel from 3PM to 5PM Sunday and at other hours will be at the home of Jennifer and Todd Gilleland.
