After Michael’s half-ironman, much fun was to be had. First stop: Emeril’s for a post-race celebration dinner. One word: Yum! We enjoyed everything and managed to save room for desserts: loved the bread pudding and banana cream pie!
After a night of much needed rest and some aloe for the now sunburned spectators, we enjoyed a day as sight-seers. We spent a large part of our day in the WWII museum. If you go, be SURE to see the movie Beyond All Boundaries. It’s “4-D”, a great overview of the war, and worth every penny. We grabbed a quick lunch at Cochon Butcher and the obligatory beignets at Cafe Du Monde.
Of couse, a trip to N’awlins is not complete without a stroll down Bourbon Street. In this case, Tina and Scott insisted on their drink of choice: Hand Grenades from Tropical Isle. If you’re into beverages of the adult persuasion, this not-too-girly drink should be on your list of “musts”. Crushed ice. Pineapple. Yum. Both Tina and Morgan approve. Of course, when you’re on Bourbon Street, there is no shortage of inappropriateness to be had….but we kept it tame. We had a child with us for goodness sake!
As the sun set on Bourbon Street, we got the heck out of there and headed towards more family-friendly joints. We enjoyed some window shopping, a nice dinner complete with fried alligator, and then called it a night. The next day we were headed home, but we certainly enjoyed our NOLA stay!
